the Difference in the concept, but those Definition are related to each others in Mapping software.
we use the statistical Table to imporve the rendering for the map, like when use pollutant gases in each year, Inhabitants Percentage in each city in your country.

Thematic Map , its just to show the interactive map Like what you see what you can to imagine, you can to reason out how the polltant influance in this city , rather that go to Hard statistical Tabular data and make the information conclude.
