what does IT company can invest in GIS Field ?

yesterday i went to search for a job in gis field in amman - jordan .
so first i checked almost every gis company in amman , then i start applying at IT companys , the chief of the company was interested in gis

so what does IT company can invest in GIS Field ?

and what is the gis application that i can use share point in it ?
