في البداية ان عملية ال Geocoding تتطلب دقة عالية وتوفر كم هائل من المعلومات لكي يتم ربطها geometry ولكن معظم البرمجيات الخاصة ب gis تتدعم ال Geocoding ولكن تختلف في الاستراجية المستخدمة لعمل ال Geocoding :
Geocoding is the process of assigning geographic identifiers (e.g., codes or geographic coordinates expressed as latitude-longitude) to map features and other data records, such as street addresses.
